Who's Who

Jean Miller - Chairperson

Jean worked for the regional team for the Alzheimer's Society until 3 years ago, and now is Manager of Carers Project in Banbury. With her experience of the Alzheimer's Society she has brought a great deal to the post of Chairperson.

Lynn Stoodley - Branch Manager

My working life started in the Midlands as a nursery teacher then as a favour to a friend who owned a nursing home I helped out for a while. I found I loved the work and started my career as a carer. My real interest was in working with people with mental health problems and I decided this was the direction my working life should follow.

I moved with my husband and children to Cumbria where we lived for 11 years. Whilst in there I worked for the Health Authority and when returning south in January 2000 I was delighted to join the Milton Keynes branch of the Alzheimer’s Society.

Until that time the branch had been run by a group of fantastic volunteers, dedicating so much of their time and energy, and I was the first paid worker to join the team, we now also have Dee who joined us in 2006.

Year by year the branch has grown, offering groups, support, information, social occasions and a genuine welcome for anyone who walks through the door from staff, committee and of course our wonderful band of volunteers. We all work together to try and offer the best possible support for both people living with dementia and their carers in Milton Keynes.

Dee Cope - Branch Support Worker

My name is Dee Cope, and I have been working at the Milton Keynes branch of the Alzheimer’s Society since 2006. I live in Milton Keynes, where I moved with my family 21 years ago from Amersham, Bucks.

I had a most unsatisfying career in sales for many years before embarking on a career change into The social care field. I was carer to both my parents for 10 years, a role that fuelled my desire to pursue the field in which I now work.

Prior to joining the Alzheimer’s society, I worked with acquired brain injuries, in a residential rehabilitation centre. In my spare time I work as a mediator in a voluntary capacity, which is both interesting and rewarding.
